About Jaydie
Ja ydie Lynn King After a hard fought battle, our dearest Jaydie Lynn King returned to her Heavenly Father on Wednesday, the 23rd day of November, 2005. She was surrounded by her adoring family and in the loving care of nurses and doctors at the Phoenix Children's Hospital. Jaydie was an absolute angel throughout her brief life. We enjoyed her infectious personality, her giving spirit and her wonderful sense of humor in our home for eight glorious years. Throughout her illness, she has literally touched thousands of lives. Jaydie was diagnosed with a brain tumor seven months ago and has since raised thousands of dollars in contributions and awareness about pediatric cancer and tumors through TEAM JAYDIE, a foundation she formed. Throughout her life, she has shown amazing concern for others. It became even more apparent during her sickness as she demonstrated tremendous compassion for other sick children around her. She made sure that she always brought gifts to share with others in the Clinic with her. Beyond that, she was concerned about her parents and other family members and how her sickness affected them. Even as her suffering became unbearable, she never complained about anything and remained cheerful and positive; she was the essence of courage and more. Jaydie has set a high standard for us to live up to. As a child, she provided an everlasting example of what is good and right. We will miss her, but find tremendous peace in the knowledge of where she has gone. We love you, baby girl. Jaydie is survived by her father, mother, younger sister, baby brother and a multitude of extended family and faithful admirers. Services will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 325 W. Coral Gables Drive, on Tuesday, November 29, 2005. The viewing will begin at 10:00am with services starting at 11:00am. In Jaydie's honor, donations can be made to the Phoenix Children's Hospital Foundation, 1920 E. Cambridge Ave., Suite 200, Phoenix, AZ, 85006 or The Make-a-Wish Foundation of America, 3550 North Central Avenue, Suite 300, Phoenix, AZ, 85012. Arrangements entrusted to Hansen Desert Hills Mortuary, 480-991-5800. Published in The Arizona Republic on 11/28/2005.

"When Annie and Libby told me that I could have a Make A Wish, I did not know what that meant. Then my mom and dad said I could wish for anything I wanted and they would give it to me because of my illness. That really made me feel special.
I was thinking about my wish for a long time before I decided. Adrian and Marybeth came over to meet me and my family. They were really nice and brought pizza for dinner. It is one of my favorite meals. They also brought presents for me, my brother, and my sister. It was like a birthday. They asked me what my wish was. I told them that I wanted to swim with dolphins in Hawaii.
They said that was a great wish and they would make it happen. I was smiling really big. They made all the plans for my big trip.
The day finally came and I was really excited. The doorbell rang early in the morning. It was Moji our driver. Marybeth said a van would pick us up, but when I looked outside it was a white limo. I felt like a princess as I got in. We drove to the airport and got on the big plane. The plane ride was long but we watched movies and went to sleep.
When we got to Hawaii we went to our hotel. It was very exciting. We had a balcony that looked at the ocean. It was very pretty.
The first day in Hawaii we played in the water and relaxed on the beach. My cousin got stung by a jellyfish. It was sad, but it was the first time I saw a jellyfish. My dad and mom were having a good time and so was I.
The next day we went to the Dolphin Quest. It was cool. I got in the pool with the dolphins. I got to feed them and make them do jumps and other tricks. I also got to give them a hug and a big kiss. My favorite dolphin was named N’eli. My dad took lots of pictures and I love to look at them and remember how much fun I had.
The next day, we rode horses. Me and mom went on top of a mountain to look at the ocean. She was scared, but I wasn’t. I like to ride horses.
For dinner we went to a Hawaiian Luau. We saw many different dances. There was a man who had fire sticks and lots of Hula dancers. I got to do the hula on stage. My sister and aunt thought they were really good but they need more practice. My dad played fear factor and ate Poi. It is yucky and tastes like glue. Hawaiian people love it, but it is not that good.
My dad and me went on a helicopter. It was our first time. We had a good time flying around the island.
Make A Wish gave us all spending money and food money. We got to eat at lots of good places like Bubba Gumps. It was very good. We also went to Build A Bear, and then bought T Shirts.
I was sad when the trip was over. It is ok because I have wonderful memories and lots of pictures to look at. And when I do, I always smile.
It was a great trip. My family takes a lot of vacations, but this one was special because it was for me. I am glad for the special people at Make A Wish. They make lot’s of kids smile and laugh even when they are sick. Thank You Adrian and Marybeth, and all the people who supported my Make A Wish dream. You are the best and I will never forget you."
Letter from Jaydie
May 12, 2005
Hello, my name is Jaydie. My mom and dad said it was time for me to write a letter for the web-site. I want to thank my cousin Sammy for putting the site together. It was really nice of her to do that for me. I also want to thank all of my friends and family who have gone to my radiation treatments with me. I had a really fun time with each of you.
I have only a few treatments left, and then the doctors told me that I can take a little break and relax. I feel pretty good right now. I just get kinda tired during the day. A little bit of hair is starting to fall out, but it is not really bothering me. Some people say they will shave their heads if I loose my hair, that will be funny if they do.
My brother is being loud right now. He is a nut! I got a new dog. It is a Dachsund/Chihuahua mix. It is also a nut. The two of them run around like they are crazy. I love both of them though. When they calm down, they are fun to be with. My sister Taylor is always singing., and she is loud too. I love her also. We share a room still, and it is nice to have her there at night.
Right now me and my mom are best friends. We go everywhere together. She always wakes me up and fixes me breakfast. Then we go to treatments together. After treatment, we go to lunch. We usually go to Target or As you wish or something after lunch. Then we come home to take a nap. The doctor has let me go back to school. We had Mother’s Day for mom. We got her a necklace and a ring.
My grandmas and grandpas have been really good to me. They invite me over and bring me gifts. They are great! I want to thank them for being so nice to me.
I guess that is enough for now. I will probably write another letter soon. Thank you to everyone who prays for me at night. I think the prayers really help. I feel better when we pray, and I hope you do to.
Love,
Jaydie
